CODA

Director, Co-Editor

CODA is a 5 minute experimental documentary that profiles Jodee Mundy - Artist, Activist and titular “CODA” - Child of Deaf Adults.

The term refers to the hearing children of Deaf parents, the individual who acts as a cultural broker between two worlds. Mundy uses art and performance to expose hearing audiences to the possibilities that exist in Deaf language and culture, often left unspoken and without a voice in media. This film offers an intimate look at the process and reflection around her latest production “Personal,” which examines the events that led her to realise that she was different from not only the world, but also, her own family.

I acknowledge the First Nations Peoples of the land in which I work - the Turrbal from the Northside of the Brisbane River and the Yuggera from the Southside of the Brisbane River.

I honour their Elders - past, present and emerging – and show respect for their continued cultural and spiritual connection to the lands and waters.
